While the kitchen island cart is a great solution for quick access to your most frequently used kitchen items as well as a great kitchen worktop, it is by no means the only accessory available for storage and organization of your kitchen stuff. Here are some other great freestanding pieces of kitchen furniture that can help you out as well!
Kitchen Cabinets – The kitchen cabinet is very similar to the kitchen island cart, except for one crucial difference: it has no wheels! This means that you can’t really move it easily to wherever you want to go like with the cart, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, just different. It means the kitchen cabinet serves the same purpose, but is a more permanent fixture. Aside from that, it also means that your kitchen cabinet can be much bigger than your island cart, and can also hold much heavier things, due to the fact that it is a fully stable piece of furniture. The kitchen island cart rests on wheels and is therefore a little less stable.
Kitchen Pantries – The kitchen pantry is similar to the kitchen cabinet, except it is a much more open structure. Think of the kitchen cabinets as the dressers of the kitchen, and the kitchen pantry is more like the book shelf of the kitchen. Everything on it is on display, and it is usually taller and skinnier (although there are several variations). This piece of furniture is generally used for keeping food items that can be kept outside of the refrigerator. They provide easy access and make everything easier to find since everything is visible. A lot of times they are kept in the kitchen closet.
Kitchen Hutches – The kitchen hutch is basically a display cabinet where the contents inside are visible through windows. This is a great place to keep things like your nice china, tableware, bottles of wine, and other things that you might like to display. The kitchen hutch is generally in a visible area, and a lot of times can be seen from the dining area as well. It is a great addition to any kitchen where you would generally keep the tableware that is reserved for special events.
